ISTRA /Moscow Region/, September 29. /TASS/. Russia-US contacts on the issue of "irritants" will take place soon, with the timing being coordinated, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters on the sidelines of the 23rd annual meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club.

He noted that circumstances would eventually compel the United States to think in terms of multipolarity.

Commenting on Poland’s plans to establish Patriot missile production in the country, Lavrov urged that Russia’s military doctrine be studied closely.

TASS has compiled his key statements.

Circumstances will eventually force the US to think in terms of multipolarity, and this process is only beginning: "I said that circumstances would force them to. But it is only the beginning. Be patient. We have repeatedly outlined, together with the president, all our proposals on how relations should be built on the international stage."

The US is still seeking to promote its own unilateral interests: "The United States is forced to engage with countries such as Russia and China. During these contacts, steps are discussed that will serve the interests of both countries. This is precisely the concept that I would refer to as ‘circumstances forcing them.’"

Russia-US contacts on the issue of "irritants" will take place soon, with the timing currently under coordination: "Not yet. We agreed with [US Secretary of State] Marco Rubio that this would happen. The experts are expected to agree on the specific timing and venue."

Under US President Donald Trump’s administration, Russia has never heard any encouraging signals from the US side regarding the return of diplomatic property: "On this issue, we have never heard any encouraging comments from the US side, with Donald Trump’s administration already in office."

Russia is eliminating threats and destroying the infrastructure of the Nazi Kiev regime in Ukraine: "If you are talking about the destruction of infrastructure used by the Nazi regime, with Western support, to wage war against Russia, then we resort to brute force to suppress this direct threat to us."

European countries are waging a war against Russia and it is beyond any doubt: "Well, if you admit that your weapons are being used against us and we are shooting these weapons down, you may call it whatever you like. However, I have no doubt that this is a war that Europe is waging against us. We have been talking about this for a long time."

Russia’s military doctrine needs to be carefully studied in light of Poland’s plans to establish Patriot missile production in the country and the extent of Europe’s involvement in the conflict in Ukraine: "We have a military doctrine on this matter, which President [of Russia Vladimir Putin] has cited repeatedly. I urge you to study carefully the relevant section of this crucial document."

Germany wants to "stay relevant" through its attempts to become involved in resolving the conflict around Ukraine: "It is difficult for me to judge what Germany is seeking. I think one obvious explanation is the basic desire to stay relevant. They believe that things are coming to a head, I am not sure if that is true, when it comes to the Ukrainian crisis."

"The militarization of the European Union, the ever-present incantations about NATO expanding to include the Kiev regime, Russia as an eternal enemy, and the three years that separate it from war with the EU. If the same song is being sung, with the same goal that Mr. [German Foreign Minister Johann] Wadephul himself declared, i.e. repeating these notions behind closed doors without the press in order to force Russia to accept it as the case, then I would call this a fruitless and even harmful undertaking."

It is regrettable that such individuals from the EU and NATO essentially take on "the role of heralding" this European arrangement.
