Hundreds of thousands of customers lose power amid Chicago severe weather

A severe weather outbreak in the Chicago area left nearly 400,000 customers without power across the region.
According to the latest estimates from ComEd, hundreds of thousands of customers are without power across Illinois, with most of those customers located in DuPage and Cook counties. NIPSCO is also reporting more than 50,000 customers without power in northwest Indiana.

More than 150,000 of those reported outages remaining are in Cook County, with another 62,000 in DuPage County, 52,000 in Lake County and 26,000 in Will County.
Powerful thunderstorms, some producing wind gusts in excess of 90 miles per hour and egg-sized hail, hammered the region Monday afternoon, leading to a series of watches and warnings, including a tornado warning in parts of DuPage, Cook and Will counties.
