Whoopi Goldberg threw some surprise support behind President Donald Trump and his trip to take in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. Goldberg, 70, prefaced with a frank 'I'm sorry' on The View Monday. 'Anyone who's a Knicks fan should be there,' she said. The panel had been discussing the possibility of Trump's presence creating a 'jinx.' 'You know what, I don’t think anything can jinx anything,' Goldberg argued. She maintained the Knicks 'were on a mission,' before being met with resistance. 'They’re like the Blues Brothers: They’re on a mission from God!

'And they have been winning and doing everything, and you know, you could be buck [expletive] up in the box, and ain’t nobody paying attention!' Goldberg highlighted how she and Trump were actually from New York, unlike the other hosts. Joy Behar, born and raised in Brooklyn, was notably not present. 'He was a New Yorker but they hate him so much here because he’s fleeing the taxes. He’s now a Floridian,' Ana Navarro pushed back. 'When you have always been a Knicks fan, it doesn’t matter where you live,' Goldberg shot back.

'I have always been, at my core, because I’m from here, I have always been a Knicks fan,' she emphasized. She pointed to the floor of the show's Manhattan studio as she spoke. The other hosts brought up complaints from game-goers about TSA-style screenings outside Madison Square Garden to protect the President. 'If I scraped up $10,000 to buy tickets to the game, I don’t want two hours of a security line. You can’t bring your bag. You got to take your shoes off like it’s TSA. I don’t think he should come,' Sunny Hostin maintained. Goldberg shot back that any Knicks fan 'should be there' regardless of beliefs.

'You earn the right as a Knicks fan. I don’t care who you are. I don’t have to like you, I don’t have to dig you. If I was as big as them, I’d still be going,' she said. She ultimately urged the other hosts and viewers 'to concentrate' on putting out 'good energy'. 'That’s what this is about.' The Knicks went on to lose to the San Antonio Spurs 115-111.

Trump called the game 'fantastic' as he left the city from John F Kennedy airport. Monday night's game was the Knicks' first loss of the Finals, after a 13-game winning streak.
