A journalist left Whoopi Goldberg speechless after brutally fact-checking her live on The View after she attempted to bash Donald Trump. 

Financial news anchor Sara Eisen from CNBC appeared on the talk show on Thursday, where the panel quickly descended into squabbling over Trump's tariffs.

Goldberg asked her: 'It seems that the market doesn't really pay attention to who is president, the market does what it does.'

Eisen responded matter-of-factly: 'The market likes who is president. There's a lot of upbeat sentiment from companies and from investors about policies that are helpful for growth.'

Seemingly looking for something negative to talk about, Sunny Hostin interrupted Eisen, who was in full swing, asking: 'Do you think the tariffs are helpful for growth?'

'The tariffs usually wouldn't be helpful for growth, but they haven't been as bad as everybody expected', Eisen said. 

Co-host Joy Behar added: 'It helps for rich people. It doesn't help for poor people or middle-income people.'

Standing firm, Eisen then argued that despite widespread fears at the time of President Trump's first announcement of tariffs, none came to fruition. 

She added: 'Companies have absorbed it. You know what, they've never been more profitable right now. But also they like the tax bill.'

Hostin then asked: 'So, if you're an investor, or you're wealthy, then it's great. If you’re middle-class or under the middle class, then it’s not good at all.'

Eisen agreed that it was the case, but urged more Americans to get involved in the stock market. 

When Hostin said, 'If you're getting paid minimum wage, you don't have exposure to stocks', Eisen responded that Trump was pushing 401k programs to increase that.

Tension between the two started to rise, causing Goldberg to interrupt, saying: 'Sorry about that, it's very rare that we get to sit with a financial person.'

Defiant, Eisen told the group to 'keep it coming'. 

Their brief discussion on tariffs came after the Supreme Court ruled against Trump's economic policy last week.

In a 6-3 decision, the court said Trump did not have the authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 to impose tariffs.

Trump had used the law as a legal footing for his widespread tariff policy, which he boasted would enrich the nation.

An estimated $175 billion in tariff revenue is at stake, according to the Penn-Wharton Budget Model, Reuters reported. 

The court did not provide any clear guidance on what the administration should do with the billions already collected.

The court's rejection comes despite the President having the benefit of a conservative majority. 

He appointed three Supreme Court Justices in his first term - Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.

Despite the court's 6-3 rightward lean, Gorsuch and Barrett ruled against the President last Friday, while Kavanaugh penned the dissent.

Trump imposed tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China as he entered the White House last year and threatened other countries with them also.
