Like clockwork, Sony's big annual Days of Play deals bonanza is back for another year, and in spite of everything that's going on, there are some actual deals to be had on PlayStation hardware and software that I think are worth telling you about. With all the news about price rises due to the memory crisis from all sides of the hardware industry, I had wondered if Sony would even think to discount items, but I'm nonetheless happy to have been proven wrong.

If you're unaware, Sony has reserved this two week period from the end of May to mid-June to put a range of its hardware and games on some rather handy discounts, and that would usually include PS5 consoles - it has for the past few years - but notably they're exempt from discount owing to Sony's hefty price rises that took effect a few weeks ago on the PS5 in both Digital and Disc flavours, the PS5 Pro and even the PlayStation Portal handheld.

This year therefore, this raft of discounts from both Sony directly and select retail partners focuses more on accessories to pair with a console you presumably bought before the rises (or have had for years by this point - come on Sony, where's my PlayStation 6?), including a new low on the PSVR 2 VR headset, and some lovely peripheral-related price cuts, too. Here's everything you need to know along with handy links where you can purchase stuff.

For me, the standout deal Sony is offering for Days of Play 2026 is a £90/$100 discount on its PSVR 2 headset to bring it down to what feels like a new low price for a quality headset you can natively use with your PS5 in games such as Horizon Call of the Mountain, Gran Turismo 7 and the classic Beat Saber, plus with a special adapter, you can even use this headset with PC titles, too (although it is sold separately and doesn't appear to be discounted just yet).

In his 2023 review, Ian praised everything from how comfortable the headset is against its predecessor, plus the added benefits of eye tracking, the leap forward provided with the accompanying Sense controllers over the Move used on the original PSVR and the lush 4K OLED screens you get to see all that immersive goodness on. It's fair to say he was quite impressed.

The bundle here isn't a game-specific one, but merely incldues the headset and its associated cables, plus the Sense controllers, and the additional wired headphones so you can be up and running out of the box in a matter of minutes.

The Pulse Elite is Sony's flagship gaming headset that took things to the next level from the original Pulse 3D model by adding planar magnetic drivers, rather than the usual dynamic ones seen in headsets. These allow for a tighter and deeper bass alongside a rich mid-range and pitch-perfect highs, and are present because of Sony's acqusition of audiophile headphone manufacturer Audeze, who is known for its use of planar magnetic drivers.

Alongside this, these cans work wirelessly either over Bluetooth or the PlayStation Link receiver, and can also work via a 3.5mm audio jack for wired connectivity. Sony rates these cans to last for up to 30 hours on a charge. They should integrate perfectly with the PS5 and PlayStation Portal handheld with PlayStation Link in tow, and can also work with PC. Sony has also bundled a retractable microphone with AI-enhanced noise rejection to keep your voice clear.

With this price cut in mind, the Pulse Elite essentially becomes the same price as the street price for the Pulse 3D, with this newer model being a much more feature-rich choice for a roughly similar price tag.

If you'd prefer a set of premium first party in ears, then the PS5 Pulse Explore wireless earbuds have also received a hefty discount. These too have planar magnetic drivers inside to allow for some of the richest and most detailed audio you'll get out of a set of wireless earbuds, alongside convenient wireless connectivity with the PlayStation Link wireless receiver and Bluetooth. This makes them compatible with both the PS5 and PlayStation Portal, as well as with PC and mobile devices with ease.

Sony rates these earbuds to last for up to five hours on a charge, with the charging case supplementing this with a further five hours for a total of ten. This isn't the best against other wireless gaming earbuds out there, but it's enough for a few short gaming sessions before you'll need to charge things fully.

The avant-garde design is worth a look too, as it's unlike virtually any other earbuds we've seen, although it's in-keeping with the large Pulse Elite headset and the PS5's styling too. Another thing to note with these buds is that they don't have any active noise cancellation, so you will be left to use the tips to get as secure of a seal as possible.

Sony has also dropped the price of the pro-grade DualSense Edge controller, which takes a standard DualSense and adds a few things to make it a lot more customisable and suitable for the pro gamers out there. Tom's DualSense Edge review called the controller a "serious upgrade for enthusiasts", with a lot of that down to the configurability of the Edge over a standard DualSense with its new remappable buttons and such. It adds ftware integration with the controller to the PS5, allowing you to create up to four profiles with different settings for button maps, stick sensitivity and assigning functions to the Edge's rear buttons. The stick modules are also swappable, as with other pro-style controllers out there, although you do pay extra for these from Sony directly.

You'll also find toggle switches on the rear to minimise the travel distance of the triggers to create hair-trigger inputs. This has the benefit of speedier inputs when you need them most in intensive, fast-paced titles that can provide you with a competitive edge when it matters most. It also comes with a useful carry case that allows you to charge the controller, and the long USB-C cable stays in place thanks to an extra safety measure that locks it securely in place.

The form factor of the original DualSense is retained with the Edge along with the same lovely adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, for instance. It is slightly heavier, though, while battery life also takes a hit against the original as Tom noted in his review due to a battery that's some 500mAh lower in overall capacity.

Before I go, it's also important to note that lots of different variants of the standard PS5 DualSense controllers have experienced a hefty price cut - standard controllers in colours such as black, white, blue, pink and the red above are down to £45, while you can also get special editions such as the Ghost of Yotei, Genshin Impact and Techno Red variants for £55 each. In the USA, the special edition controllers are $64, maintaining price parity with the standard DualSense against the UK, with options such as the above choices, the Marathon and Rhythm Blue options, too. That's a steal if you need a second controller, or you want one with a completely different look without forking out for the DualSense Edge above.

So there you have it - that's my picks for the best deals for Sony's Days of Play sale for 2026 - the deals above should be available now and running until June 10th, so you've got two weeks or so to pick some new controllers or accesssories up if you fancy.
