Grand Theft Auto VI, or GTA VI, is one of the most hotly anticipated titles set to launch this year, and every gamer, game developer, and publisher knows this. To date, however, there has been but two trailers for the game, and that was posted all the way back at the end of 2025.

That’s all about to change later this month and more specifically, 27 August: Rockstar Games will be releasing a new “extended look”, which possibly includes a new trailer and, of course, gameplay footage. The latter being what fans are looking forward to. The extended trailer will be available on YouTube from 9PM ET — 9AM 28 August for us in Malaysia — and there is a way to view it earlier, but you will need a Netflix account.

Netflix will have access to the GTA VI extended look six hours before the video goes live on YouTube. Rockstar’s decision to do this has gone down about as well as you’d think with fans. Again, it is a potential first look at gameplay footage for a new game. As one fan puts it, it feels “unbelievably scummy”. “Everyone is excited for the extended look of GTA 6 but it’s premiering on Netflix first which will influence people to get a subscription. This needs to be called out because if any other studio such as Bethesda did this they would be crucified.”

The last GTA title, GTA V, launched 13 years ago, and has been re-released across multiple console generations, the last one being in 2022. Suffice to say, GTA VI has been a long time coming.

GTA VI was originally slated for a 2025 launch, but its developers, Rockstar Games, has delayed its launch date twice. Barring anymore delays, the game will launch on 19 November 2026. As per the game’s synopsis, players will be put in the shoes of two protagonist, Jason and Lucia, and see them return to Vice City.
