The certification is granted based on a provisional self-reporting system after completing a 170-item questionnaire evaluated against the WTA’s standards.

Yahsat has announced that its Abu Dhabi Teleport has received the highest-level Tier 4 certification from the World Teleport Association (WTA).

The WTA’s certification programme is the only one of its kind globally, covering teleports’ facilities, technical infrastructure, and operating procedures. By awarding Yahsat Tier 4 status, the WTA has acknowledged Yahsat’s extensive efforts to deliver top-tier services in line with world-class standards.

The WTA certification is highly regarded in the satellite communication industry as an independently verified benchmark. This internationally recognised certification allows teleport operators to stand out and helps customers choose teleports that offer the optimal price-performance level for their needs.

Speaking about the achievement, Khalid Al Kaf, Chief Operations Officer of Yahsat, said: “We are delighted that Yahsat has been awarded the WTA’s highest-level Tier 4 certificate. This certificate recognises Yahsat’s determination and commitment toward delivering the best quality of service to our customers. Our ethos is to continuously push the boundaries of technology to meet and exceed their requirements by constantly aiming for even higher standards.”

Randall Barney, WTA’s Director of Certification & Membership, added: “The Tier 4 certification is only awarded to those organisations that can demonstrate an elevated standard of service and Yahsat is a great example of that. We provide an independent study and review of services provided by satellite teleports and judge the organisation on a set of stringent criteria that Yahsat has accomplished, setting a great example for the rest of the satellite communications industry.”

The certification is initially issued on a provisional basis, based on a self-reported system following the completion of a 170-item questionnaire evaluated against the WTA’s standards. Teleports must achieve these standards within six months and conduct an independent audit of their services to gain full certification, which is valid for three years.
