All evacuation warnings have been lifted in connection with the 20-acre brush fire that's been burning south of Santa Clarita, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department announced Sunday.

The so-called Tasha Fire, now 30% contained, broke out near Sierra Highway and the Newhall Pass just before 6 p.m. Saturday, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Aerial footage from NewsChopper4 showed ground crews fighting the blaze on steep terrain as aircrafts dropped red flame retardant.

The fire department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department are investigating the cause of the fire and whether it was started intentionally.

Deputies were looking for a silver or gray Mercedes sedan believed to have been near the area when the fire sparked, according to the LASD.

NBC Los Angeles was tracking several fires burning across Southern California on Saturday, including the Walnut Fire in Burbank and the Holser Fire near Piru in Ventura County.

The Walnut, Tasha and Holser fires all led to evacuation warnings. Keenan Willard reports for the NBC4 News at 11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026.
