DHST Announces Second Early Career Scholars Workshop Series in 2026

In the second half of 2026, the Division of History of Science and Technology (DHST) will sponsor a second series of online workshops for the benefit of its international community of early career scholars. The DHST Council has approved the continuation of the initiative after the success of the first series.

The recordings of the 2025 series (on book reviews, oral history methods, journals’ roles, career development, collaborative research, and book proposal and grant writing) are available for viewing on the website of the Consortium for History of Science, Technology and Medicine (CHSTM), which has generously provided the infrastructure for the workshops.

The second series will keep bringing together DHST’s three scientific sections, 20 commissions, and 50 ordinary and associate member countries. Particular support is given by the Commission on Science, Technology and Diplomacy (STAND), the Inter-Union Commission on the History and Philosophy of Physics (IUCHPP), the Scientific Instrument Commission (SIC), and the Science and Empire Commission (SCIEMP).

The second series will be organized by Sofia Guilhem Basilio (University of São Paulo, Brazil), Ojas Kadu (National Centre for Biological Sciences, India), Sabina Luz (independent researcher, Brazil), Rebecca C. Mann (University of Sydney, Australia), and Javier Ramiro Poveda Figueroa (independent researcher, Ecuador), with guidance offered by the organizers of the first series, Barbara Hof (University of Lausanne, Switzerland) and Climério da Silva Neto (Federal University of Bahia, Brazil).

The second series will take place in the second half of 2026. Details about the program and registration information will be announced closer to that time. For questions, feel free to contact the organizers at workshops@dhstweb.org.

We look forward to this renewed initiative!
