There are few designer brands as enduringly cool as Acne Studios. One of the original new-wave Scandi labels, nearly 30 years on it’s still a celeb go-to for the chicest knitwear, denim and of course, that famous patchwork scarf.

But if there’s one area that Acne truly excels, it’s leather. In particular, the brand’s leather jackets with shearling collars which have, without fail, been the cool-girl jackets of the past three decades. They’ve got that perfect androgynous boxy cut, are crafted from the softest leather and lamb shearling and have a practical double- breasted fastening for optimum warmth in winter. There’s a reason everyone from Keira Knightley to Alexa Chung has one in their wardrobe.

There’s only one thing we don’t love about Acne’s Leather Shearling Jacket: the price tag. At £2,600, if we start saving now, we might be able to afford it by winter 2030. Emphasis on ‘might’.

As usual, however, the internet has the answer. Savvy TikTokers have spotted a Faux Shearling Borg Lined Aviator Jacket in M&S, and it’s undeniably giving serious Acne energy. The best bit? It’s selling for £79, or £2,521 cheaper than its designer inspo.

M&S has nailed the same timeless aviator style and, most importantly, its version has an similar snug double-breasted fastening that’s both trendy and toasty. There’s also the same peep of fluff at the collar, only M&S’s is synthetic borg, whereas Acne’s is made from actual lamb shearling. We won’t tell if you don’t.

A quick glance at M&S’s website shows we’re not the only ones lusting after the jacket. It has more than 160 five-star reviews, with shoppers raving about the ‘excellent quality’, ‘great value for money’ and ‘very stylish’ design. ‘I’ve had so many compliments about it,’ one customer wrote, ‘people say it looks far more expensive.’

Unsurprisingly, as attested by shoppers in the review section, the coat is pretty hard to get hold of, selling out in a matter of weeks each time it’s re-released. The good news? It has just been restocked, and is now available online in all sizes from 6 to 24. On your Marks, quite literally.
