Colby Covington claims that both Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov have been reluctant to face him in the UFC, suggesting they are fearful of the matchup.

Colby Covington is scheduled to make his UFC return in December, where he will take on Leon Edwards for the welterweight division title after a 21-month hiatus from fighting. His last victory was against Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272 in March 2022, which reportedly led to an altercation between the two former friends in Miami. 

Colby Covington, despite claiming to have suffered brain damage in an altercation, is preparing to return to the octagon to face Leon Edwards in the main event of UFC 296 in December. He has dismissed the possibility of facing Islam Makhachev, who has hinted at moving up to the welterweight division, referring to Makhachev as being in a "little boy's weight class." 

 Colby Covington has dismissed Islam Makhachev's potential move to the welterweight division, calling Makhachev's opponents in the lightweight division "little midgets" and their fights "pathetic." He suggested that a superfight between them could happen, given they are in the same weight class, with Makhachev potentially walking around at a higher weight than him.
