Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly began an inspection tour of Gharbiya Governorate on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, to inaugurate and inspect a number of development, service, and government projects, accompanied by several ministers and senior officials.
During the tour, Madbouly highlighted Gharbiya’s competitive advantage as one of Egypt’s traditional industrial hubs and a major agricultural governorate. He also reviewed progress on projects implemented under the presidential “Decent Life” initiative, which aims to improve basic services and enhance the quality of life in rural communities.
The tour included healthcare facilities, family medicine centers, drinking water and wastewater projects, as well as the inauguration of a regional branch of the Consumer Protection Agency.
Gharbiya Governor Alaa Abdel Moaty said 221 projects have been completed in Zefta district, covering 55 villages and 92 hamlets and serving around 560,000 people. The projects include government and agricultural service complexes, healthcare facilities, roads, bridges, and irrigation infrastructure.
PM: Egypt Prioritizes Drinking Water Services
During the tour, Madbouly inaugurated the Nahtay water station in Zefta, stressing that the state places particular importance on the drinking water sector as a vital service directly linked to citizens’ daily lives and health.
The station was upgraded and its efficiency enhanced under the presidential “Decent Life” initiative as part of ongoing efforts to improve drinking water services and the quality of life in Egyptian villages.
Madbouly said drinking water projects implemented under the initiative are contributing to a significant improvement in basic services across targeted villages. He added that these projects aim to provide safe, high-quality drinking water and ensure reliable services for citizens.
The upgrades to the Nahtay station are expected to increase water production, improve pumping rates, and enhance the stability of services provided to residents.
Madbouly stressed the importance of accelerating the completion of “Decent Life” projects, addressing any obstacles affecting implementation, and maximizing their impact on the quality of life in targeted communities.
PM Inspects Sandbast Family Medicine Center
Madbouly also inspected the Family Medicine Center in Sandbast village, Zefta district, describing healthcare projects under the “Decent Life” initiative as a key pillar of the state’s efforts to invest in human development.
He said such projects reflect the state’s commitment to providing comprehensive and advanced healthcare services in villages, ensuring that citizens have access to quality medical care close to their homes while contributing to improved quality of life and sustainable development.
Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said the Sandbast Family Medicine Center represents a model for modern primary healthcare facilities designed to bring medical services closer to citizens and support comprehensive health coverage.
Built on an area of 2,050 square meters, the three-story center serves more than 47,000 citizens and includes specialist clinics, family medicine and family planning clinics, a dental clinic, a first-aid unit, a fully equipped pharmacy, a medical laboratory, maternal and child healthcare services, a radiology center, and a state-funded treatment clinic.
The center also provides services under Egypt’s presidential public health initiatives, including screening and treatment for chronic and kidney diseases, early detection and treatment of hearing impairment among newborns, women’s health services, maternal and fetal care, early detection of genetic diseases, healthcare for the elderly, and cancer screening and treatment.
Abdel Ghaffar said the center has spared residents the time, cost, and difficulty of traveling to Zefta General Hospital, around five kilometers away, to receive medical care.
During his inspection, Madbouly toured the center’s clinics and spoke with medical staff about working hours and services. Doctors said healthcare services are available around the clock, while the family planning clinic receives up to 900 visitors per month and provides all services free of charge.
Madbouly also spoke with residents about the quality of services provided at the center. They expressed satisfaction with the healthcare services and said the new facility had significantly reduced the need to travel for treatment, particularly for elderly people, women, and children.
Gharbia Governor Alaa Abdel Moaty said the governorate is witnessing a major transformation in healthcare infrastructure under the “Decent Life” initiative. He added that the Sandbast center represents an important addition to healthcare services in Zefta and supports preparations for the implementation of the Comprehensive Health Insurance System.
The prime minister was accompanied during the tour by the ministers of health and population, local development and environment, agriculture and land reclamation, and housing, as well as lawmakers and senior officials.
