Come and join us for another delve into the Projects to find the best of the best from the last week or so. We’ll be getting stuck into lots of great-looking miniature wargaming painting and hobbying this week…

…always let us know what YOU have been working on and share it across the site.

Pillage Terrain by ewokkebab

We start with ewokkebab who has been building warbands to play games of Pillage. Well, now the warbands are completed, they need something to burn down and steal from. Therefore, ewokkebab has been working away on painting some Pillage terrain to use!

Pillage Terrain #1 by ewokkebab

The terrain was 3D printed and then given a swift paint job that looks great. It doesn't need to be a top-class job on terrain and you'll be surprised (or not) how much of a change it makes to have painted terrain on the tabletop rather than big blocks of grey. I think these look ace and with the added bonus of some tufts and static grass, they really come to life and look great for the tabletop.

Pillage Terrain #2 by ewokkebab

You'll note that they even have interiors which have been given a quick blast of paint as well. This means that they won't look odd when you crack the roof off and start skirmishing around inside the different buildings. What's also cool is that all of this got painted up and ended up being used for some games!

Pillage Terrain #3 by ewokkebab

As ewokkebab says, Historical purists should probably look away at this point, but some Saxons clashed with Late Romans on the tabletop (Late Romans used the Carolingian rules). It all came together as part of a nice-looking set-up for a game. I think it looks even better with the addition of the market and the other bits and pieces from the Victrix collection. A good start to a Pillage collection and introducing a friend to the game.

Trench Crusade by balthazaar

Next up, we're turning our attention to balthazaar, who has been working away on some more miniatures for Trench Crusade and recently painted up the Cruciform Order of St George, which were recently added into the mix by Hollow Crown Miniatures.

Trench Crusade #1 by balthazaar

This is a great set of miniatures that have been painted up really nicely by balthazaar. I like that the dirty white of their English uniforms shows through all of the grime but it still looks like it has seen better days. You've then got that awesome camouflage pattern on the armour of the fellow at the back and the sniper. Great painting that fits the style of the recent artwork from Trench Crusade and the Cruciform Order in particular.

A lesser known element of Trench Crusade that people don't tend to think about comes in the form of these Civilians who get stuck in the crossfire between the humanity and Hell!

Trench Crusade #2 by balthazaar

balthazaar has mentioned that they can't remember the designer of these figures but they are suitable for one of the scenarios that requires Civilians in the game. balthazaar wants to expand the options for using them on the tabletop as their gaming group grows and I think that's a great idea. I love seeing these regular folk who have got dragged into the terrible, Grimdark fighting of the Trench Crusade universe. It's probably good that they're carrying a bunch of religious icons to protect themselves!

Cosmic Horror by elysium64

Last but not least, we're checking out more from a big fan of Pulp adventures, elysium64. They have been diving into painting, building and playing within the world of Cosmic Horror from the folks at Spectre Miniatures.

Cosmic Horror #1 by elysium64

elysium64 mentioned that they brought into the range recently and when they were playtesting the rules for the complete game, they broke out their miniatures and realised that they needed some scenery to actually play the game! So, they cracked out plenty of bits and bobs and crafted a tabletop that seems suitably Lovecraftian and of that Pulp period!

Cosmic Horror #2 by elysium64

elysium64 has talked about all of the elements that went into creating this slice of Americana. They broke down the various steps and discussed the techniques for everything, from the road to the house and then the various bits and pieces that turn this into an intriguing setting for solving a mystery.

Cosmic Horror #3 by elysium64

I think it looks great and will be perfect for a lot of initial games. It also provides elysium64 with a footprint to build off from here, expanding into different locations in rural settings but then perhaps more urban ones as well. I would love to see elysium64 take on a harbour or a fishery, for example.

You will also note that elysium64 also did plenty of good work on a fun little battle report as well, written up whilst they were learning the ropes. You can also check out more from elysium64, who has been working through all of the different miniatures for this collection too. I need to get some Cosmic Horror in my life, it seems.

What Are You Painting Right Now?

Every week, we’re absolutely blown away by the incredible topics that are put into the Projects; it’s getting more difficult to choose Community Spotlights! We love your work and we hope to see a lot more of it in the future!

If you fancy getting your hobby fingers out and showing off your newest paint job, terrain piece or even greatest gaming achievement, we want to know about it! We don’t mind if you’re a newcomer to painting or a veteran of the brush; everything you do inspires us to create more and more content together!

What do you think of the entries this week?
