Australian boogie rock rulers AC/DC are bringing the latest leg of the band’s 2026 Power Up Tour to B.C. Place on Aug. 13.

To accompany the band’s Vancouver concert, the group has set up its own official AC/DC PWR/UP Pop-Up pop-up store in Downtown Vancouver at the Commodore Ballroom.

The local store had a VIP preview Tuesday night where fans could take in a veritable Wayne’s World Basement assembly of various tour memorabilia and, of course, buy merchandise.

Among the highlights of the event was the chance to snap a few photos in front of a carboard cutout of the bronze statue erected in honour of the band’s bagpipe-playing lead shouter Bon Scott, who passed away on Feb. 19, 1980, at age 33 from acute alcohol poisoning.

The original statue is located in Kirriemuir, Scotland, where the raunchy rocker was born before his family relocated to Australia’s less-rainy climate.

As videos of the group featuring Scott as well as his replacement Brian Johnson played on screens around the Commodore Ballroom, folks talked of great past shows in town by the band, which has recorded here numerous times. At the top of the staircase was a neon installation proclaiming the AC/DC Pwr/Up Dive Bar.

Every diehard fan wishes the group had rolled through a Vancouver dive bar on its way up. It’s early gigs in Sydney’s rough-and-tumble live music scene are legendary.

Among the items handed out to lucky folks who had tickets to get into the preview opening was a wee printed card announcing the AC/DC Limited Edition Box Set.

No, it’s not a unique collection of rare B-sides, covers or outtakes from across the band’s career. Rather, it is a schoolboy kit inspired by a May 1976 snapshot of Angus Young by photographer Chris Chapstick where he sports his now iconic blue shorts, jacket and cap uniform.

Each of the limited edition of 500 box sets will include a ceramic pencil pot, AC/DC logo pencils, PU leather notebook with printed pages, a cap with an “A” for Angus patch, an embroidered iron on “A” patch and a copy Chapstick’s picture. There is even the chance to win a guitar autographed by lead guitar ace Angus Young.

The present live touring make up of the band features lead shouter Brian Johnson, lead guitarist Angus Young and his brother Stevie Young on rhythm guitar with tour drummer Matt Laug and bass guitarist Chris Chaney holding down the all-important rhythm section seats. With a setlist of spanning the group’s entire career, concerts have been running over 2 hours.
