At PACK EXPO this year, Campbell Wrapper will showcase its Revolution Horizontal Flow Wrapper with a new feed system and controls platform. The equipment is engineered, manufactured, built, and tested at the company's newly expanded and renovated facility in De Pere, WI, and is suitable for a broad range of applications—including bakery and confectionery items, frozen foods, snack bars, sandwiches, and more. A double-bias 45-degree-angled belt chicane system will distribute rows of products into a single stream to feed the wrapper.
Additionally, Campbell will be launching its updated wrapper controls platform, including the latest CompactLogix safety PLC from Allen Bradley with AB Optix HMI touchscreen along with other enhancements.
The new compact design Chicane feed system from Campbell features 45-degree-angled bias conveyors for light contact distribution of rows into a single-file flow. The feed system will deliver to a newly updated Campbell five-belt smart feeder to aim to accurately meter and position the products into the wrapper. Live demonstrations of this feeding & wrapping system will be at booth S-1700 in Chicago.
The Campbell Revolution flow wrapper features include Allen-Bradley’s servo drive technology, including CompactLogix safety PLC, 5700 Kinetix drives, New AB OptixPanel color touchscreen, and VPL servo motors. Key flow wrapper features include a servo-driven film feed roll, automatic film splicer, and a separate servo drive for the first set of fin wheels. The servo-driven Extended Dwell cutting head strives to ensure accurate cutoff adjustments and enable hermetically sealed packaging. Additionally, the wrapper has integrated a Videojet Thermal Transfer printer for printing. A fully integrated Cognex vision camera system will read and display the print for each package. The wrapper will utilize Amcor's AmFiber Performance cold seal Paper film.
According to the company, the Campbell Revolution can be integrated with automatic feeders, robotic product loading cells, code daters, cartoners, or other equipment. The machine comes standard with a 16-inch web width, with additional optional widths available to meet specific packaging needs. Optional features include advanced detection systems such as no product–no package, out-of-position product–no cut, and vision inspection.
