Rob Zombie has never been one to shy away from dramatic, unusual spaces. In Los Angeles, the heavy-metal musician and horror film director (born Robert Bartleh Cummings) owned a two-house compound in L.A.’s Hollywood Hills, crafted by architect Robert “Boulder” Thorgusen in the 1950s with soaring glass walls and dramatic folded-plate rooflines.

While those houses have officially sold, another uniquely designed property from the shock rocker’s past has just hit the market. His former Connecticut estate—aptly named the Origami House—is now listed for $6.5 million with William Martin of Douglas Elliman. True to Zombie’s eye for innovative handiwork, it resembles a three-dimensional piece of modern art that gracefully unfolds amid the wooded landscape as an interconnected series of geometric forms.

Zombie and his wife, actress Sheri Moon Zombie, bought the striking East Coast dwelling in the affluent suburb of Weston in 2022 for $6.5 million and sold it two years later at a loss for nearly $5 million. Its flamboyance can be traced to its origin. Designed by Manhattan’s Leroy Street Studio, the home was originally commissioned by Tony Award-winning Broadway and film director Des McAnuff, acclaimed for hits like Jersey Boys, and his wife, noted sculptor Bryna McCann.

Completed in 2013, the secluded estate rests on four separately deeded parcels spanning over 15 acres bordering a nature preserve in the Devil’s Den neighborhood. Four bedrooms and five bathrooms are filtered across roughly 8,500 square feet on two levels, with highlights including a glass-walled great room inspired by I.M. Pei’s Louvre Pyramid in Paris, plus a waterfall-fed pond with imported Japanese koi that wraps around and beneath the white stucco structure.

Automated gates flanked by lantern-topped posts secure a winding, tree-lined driveway that leads to an attached three-car garage and a motor court with room for up to a dozen vehicles. A bright red door pivots into an entry foyer, which is connected to a living area by a three-sided fireplace. There are also formal and casual dining spaces, along with a kitchen sporting a large eat-in island paired with a secondary prep kitchen. Blonde hardwood floors and angular clerestory windows anchor the light-filled interiors, which flow out to expansive terraces.

Elsewhere is an exercise room, an art studio, and an office suite with its own entrance, as well as a primary suite boasting a walk-in closet and a luxe bath flowing out to a serene meditation garden with a hot tub. The lush green grounds also host a lighted tennis court.
