Jeju Semiconductor Corp. reported second-quarter revenue of about 290 billion won and operating profit of about 120 billion won. The figures increased about 467% and 2,745%, respectively, from a year earlier. The company’s official English name is Jeju Semiconductor Corp.

According to Jeju Semiconductor on August 14, the main factors behind the increase in sales were expanded supply amid a memory-market upturn and higher prices for key products, including dynamic random-access memory (DRAM). A company official said DRAM prices have risen by double digits in every quarter this year.

Jeju Semiconductor's cumulative revenue for the first half was 470 billion won, while operating profit was 190 billion won. The figures surged 372% and 2,264%, respectively, from a year earlier.

DRAM products led first-half revenue. DRAM revenue was 173 billion won, accounting for 34.52% of total sales. NAND multi-chip package (MCP) products followed at 169 billion won, or 33.76%, while triple-level cell (TLC) NAND generated 81 billion won, or 16.19%. By application, the breakdown was internet of things (IoT), 54.9%; consumer, 24.4%; automotive, 15.2%; networking, 4.9%; and mobile, 0.7%.

Jeju Semiconductor expects results in the second half to continue growing from a year earlier. According to its disclosure, its secured order backlog currently stands at $328 million. The backlog is recognized as revenue within three to six months after delivery. Jeju Semiconductor said it has no issues securing production capacity for the second half.

The company is also proceeding with a new business to outsource production of LPDDR4X chips that it designed in-house and supply them to customers. Current assets stood at 670 billion won as of the second quarter, about three times the 280 billion won recorded a year earlier. A Jeju Semiconductor official said the current assets will be invested in the new business. Jeju Semiconductor is a fabless company that receives memory semiconductor wafers, outsources back-end processing and sells the products in chip form. Revenue from its internally designed DRAM products will be recognized from 2028 onward.
