Shinsung E&G said August 14 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Green Data for cooperation on an energy business combining equipment and data, and will pursue joint commercialization. Shinsung E&G's official English name is SHINSUNG E&G Co., Ltd.

The agreement was signed that day at Shinsung E&G's headquarters in Gwacheon. Cho Hyun-sung, head of Shinsung E&G's Manufacturing Division, and Lee Ho-joon, chief executive officer of Korea Green Data, attended along with other officials from the two companies.

The companies will jointly build and operate a platform to analyze and monitor power generation and performance data from solar-power facilities. They will also analyze data from Shinsung E&G's facilities and equipment used in clean rooms, dry rooms and data centers to improve energy efficiency. The companies will cooperate on commercializing solutions that combine equipment with data platforms and on identifying new markets.

The partnership will combine Shinsung E&G's business infrastructure with Korea Green Data's capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI)-based data analysis, monitoring and energy-management platforms. Shinsung E&G operates businesses including air-conditioning equipment for clean and dry rooms, cooling equipment for data centers, and solar modules and energy-storage-system (ESS) engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services. The company also identifies clean rooms, dry rooms and solar modules as its core businesses.

Korea Green Data was established in 2020 as an AI-based energy-management software company. It provides GreenOS, an energy operating system; GreenGuard, an electrical-safety solution; and the AI agent Greeny. The company supplies these solutions to industrial sites and buildings.

As their first joint project, the companies will apply Korea Green Data's GreenOS to Shinsung E&G's Yongin Smart Factory for a pilot operation. The Yongin facility has solar-power generation equipment and an ESS using its rooftop and unused land. The companies will eventually use AI to analyze solar generation and factory energy consumption within a single data system and validate the performance of the AI model. Shinsung E&G lists the Yongin Smart Factory as one of its operating sites.

Cho Hyun-sung, head of Shinsung E&G's Manufacturing Division, said, "We will apply Green Data's AI energy-management technology to the manufacturing site, build and validate an AI model that integrates analysis of solar-power generation and factory energy consumption, and secure a case study in manufacturing energy AI transformation (AX). We will expand opportunities for joint commercialization by leveraging the strengths of both companies."

Shinsung E&G invested in Sixty Hertz, an energy IT company specializing in virtual power plants (VPPs), in 2023. It has also expanded its business through investments in startups including Ion Earth, a mobile ESS company, and Databean, which has immersion-cooling technology for data centers.
