​Automation rate reaches 90% as process logistics downtime falls 20%

Avaco said August 14 that it participated in a battery-sector project under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s Industrial AI Solution Demonstration and Diffusion Support Program, led by the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH), completing development and on-site demonstration of the system.

​The system links AMRs that move around the factory with four-way shuttles that move materials in and out of high-density racks through a single control system. Work and movement routes can be managed according to logistics conditions.

​The project involved Dime Research, Gyeongbuk Technopark, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Seoul National University and Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), among others. Avaco verified equipment connectivity and operational stability through demonstrations reflecting actual manufacturing environments.

​Digital twin technology was also applied. Before actual equipment is installed, logistics routes and equipment operating conditions are tested in a virtual environment to assess equipment configurations and operational efficiency in advance.

​Avaco is in discussions with global battery companies about applying and supplying the related equipment to production lines. The company plans to expand its applications to displays, semiconductors and solar cells. It will also strengthen its production and technical-support capabilities using its manufacturing base in the US.
