Jodie Foster and Walton Goggins have joined the cast of Disney’s upcoming animated movie Hexed.
During a D23 presentation attended by ScreenRant, footage showed Billie (Hailee Steinfeld) discovering her magical powers before a portal pulls her into Hex, a hidden world of witches. There, Billie encounters talking objects and Goggins’ character, Beef Roger Crummchuk, while learning that she is “no ordinary child.”
The footage also revealed that Foster voices a dangerous Queen of witches who is hunting Billie for her power. It ended with a flying witch approaching Billie as she continued exploring the magical world. Goggins' Beef Roger Crummchuk is a three-eyed cat living in Hexe who can remove his own head and spin it around. Foster and Goggins join a voice cast that already includes Steinfeld, Rashida Jones, Tracey Ullman and Stephen Fry.
The new casting gives two particularly recognizable additions just months before its theatrical debut. Foster is a two-time Academy Award winner whose career spans Taxi Driver, The Silence of the Lambs and True Detective: Night Country, while Goggins is best known for his roles in Fallout and The White Lotus.
Their Hexed characters couldn't sound much more different. Goggins' bizarre three-eyed cat should add another comedic personality to Hexe, while Foster's Queen Celeste appears positioned to become a major threat to Billie as she begins understanding her powers.
Queen Celeste hunting Billie also adds another piece to the movie's central mystery. Disney has previously revealed that Billie's newly discovered magical abilities force her to team up with her cautious mother, Alice, voiced by Jones. Together, the pair uncover family secrets that could change the world of witches forever.
If Celeste specifically wants Billie's power, the D23 footage suggests those family secrets could be connected to why Billie is apparently far from an ordinary witch.
Disney first announced Hexed in 2025, but the latest footage offers a much clearer picture of the magical realm at the story's center. Talking objects, witches, and characters as unusual as Beef Roger Crummchuk suggest Hexe will be considerably stranger than the suburban world Billie leaves behind.
That makes Hexed particularly interesting as an original Walt Disney Animation Studios movie rather than another sequel or adaptation. The studio has spent recent years returning to some of its biggest franchises, while Billie's story introduces an entirely new world and collection of characters.
Directors Fawn Veerasunthorn and Jason Hand are leading the movie, with Josie Trinidad serving as co-director. Veerasunthorn previously co-directed Disney's Wish, while Hand co-directed Moana 2.
Hexed will arrive exclusively in theaters on November 25, putting it in Disney's traditional Thanksgiving release window.
