Marvel Studios has finally put faces to its long-rumored X-Men reboot, unveiling a seven-person cast during a showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event on Friday.

Studio president Kevin Feige capped the panel by bringing out director Jake Schreier alongside Sadie Sink, who previously debuted as Jean Grey in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” Ms. Sink then welcomed her new co-stars to the stage, telling the crowd, “We’re here to talk about the X-Men. Should we meet some more of the cast?”

The newly announced lineup includes Kit Connor as Scott Summers/Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue and Maya Boyd as Storm.

The panel saved its biggest surprise for last: Adam Driver crashed the presentation via a video message, revealing he will play a villain named Nathaniel Milbury rather than the fan-favorite mutant foe many had speculated about.

“So I’ll be right here, waiting for everybody to show up,” Mr. Driver told the audience.

Mr. Feige said additional casting announcements are still to come. Mr. Schreier, who previously directed Marvel Studios’ “Thunderbolts,” will helm the untitled film, which is scheduled to open exclusively in theaters on May 5, 2028.

The reboot marks Marvel Studios’ first film built around a newly assembled X-Men team rather than a cameo-driven crossover. The studio previously folded Fox-era X-Men characters into the MCU through 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, which brought back Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine alongside several mutants from the earlier Fox franchise, but this untitled film will be the first to center on a fresh X-Men roster within the MCU proper.
