A taxi driver is accused of sexually assaulting a passenger near the St. Lawrence Market on Friday.

Toronto Police say officers responded to a call for an alleged sexual assault near Market St. and The Esplanade – southwest of Lower Jarvis St. and front St. E.

“It is alleged that the suspect was working as a licensed taxi operator,” police said in a statement released Friday night. “While providing these services, the suspect (allegedly) sexually assaulted the victim.”

Police said the alleged victim did not suffer any physical injuries.

Investigators subsequently identified and arrested a suspect.

Ghulam Khan, 44, of Toronto, is charged with one count of sexual assault

He was expected to appear in court for a bail hearing on Saturday.

Investigators have released a photo of the accused out of concern for the possibility of other alleged victims.

Another man accused of Scarborough sex attack

Meanwhile, a 31-year-old man has been arrested for a separate sexual assault that allegedly occurred in Scarborough earlier this month.

Police said officers responded to that call for a sexual assault near Steeles Ave. E. and Warden Ave. around 2:45 a.m. on Aug. 1.

“It is alleged that the victim was walking in an alleyway when the suspect approached from the rear and pushed the victim to the ground,” police said in a statement released Friday night. “The suspect (then allegedly) sexually assaulted the victim.”

After the incident, the man fled the area running towards Warden Ave.

Investigators subsequently identified a suspect and arrested him on Friday.

Anh Tuan Le, of Toronto, is charged with one count of criminal harassment and one count of sexual assault.

The accused was scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing on Friday.

Investigators have also released his photo of out of concern for the possibility of other alleged victims.
