You don't have to empty the freezer/refrigerator to check the thermistors.

If you have a DMM (digital multimeter) disconnect the power to the refrigerator and then check the thermsitors resistance value using the DMM (Ohmmeter function) to measure them from the appropriate pins on the control board J1 harness cable. Make sure to unplug the cable from the board and measure on the cable pins. The mini manual shows the pin numbers and the expected resistance values at 0°F, 37°F and 77°F
