BYD‘s Denza Z Track Edition, a high-performance Z roadster variant, has been spotted in China ahead of its July 9 global launch, appearing nearly production-ready with minor camouflage on its wheels and front badge.

Breaking with BYD tradition, the Denza Z lineup is prioritising global markets. Accordingly, its global launch on July 9 will be held at the UK’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Denza boasts that the new Z will share the limelight with worldwide performance legends at “the century-old hall of racing”.

What’s different about the Track Edition

The largest change is on the outside, with Denza fitting the Z Track Edition with multiple front vents, a longer front splitter, rear diffuser, and a large spoiler at the back.

The new spy shots also show additional vents on the sides of the hood and near the wheel wells, hinting at optimised airflow, reduced wheel-well drag, and additional brake cooling. The complete aero package provides more downforce at speed, improving the Z’s track performance.

Performance-wise, MIIT filings list the Z Track Edition’s top speed as 350 km/h, and Denza claims a 0 – 100km/h time of less than 2 seconds. MIIT also provides the top-trim’s wheel and tyre size: 275/35R21 at the front, and 325/30R21 at the rear.

The Denza Z has three confirmed trims: a convertible, a hard-top roadster, and the now-spotted Track Edition. The same MIIT filings show that all trims share the same tri-motor powertrain, with one front motor pushing 500 kW (670 hp), and two rear motors cranking out a combined 680 kW (912 hp).

Total power output for all trims reaches 1,180 kW (1,582 hp), and any performance gains with the Track Edition will come solely from tuning, aerodynamics, grip and weight optimisation. It’s likely to feature BYD’s LFP Blade Battery 2.0, but capacity is currently unknown.

The Denza Z will also feature a steer-by-wire chassis, developed in-house by BYD. Like the automaker’s other flagships, the Denza Z lineup will feature many of the firm’s latest tech:

• e³ (Yi San Fang) tri-motor vehicle control platform
• Disus-M magnetorheological (MR) active suspension with active road sensing
• God’s Eye (DiPilot) 5.0 assisted driving
• Flash Charging

For reference, the convertible Denza Z has dimensions of 4780/1990/1350 mm with a 2,780 mm wheelbase. The hard-top variant sits 20 mm lower to the ground, while the Track Edition brings the length up to 4,870 mm.

More on Denza

China EV DataTracker reports that Denza delivered 15,620 units domestically in May 2026. Sales are improving, nearly matching its 12-month peak of 17,647 units in December 2025.

The Denza Z is not expected to sell in high volume. It is more valuable as a halo car for the Denza brand and adds credibility in developed markets like the EU and North America.
