An Atlantic City lifeguard has been arrested is accused of trying to meet up with a 15-year-pld girl for sex.

But what 38-year-old Stephen Pagnoni did not know was that the young girl he was talking to online was really an undercover detective with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit.

Pagnoni has been employed as a lifeguard with the Atlantic City Beach Patrol for approximately 20 years, according to a release from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.

He has been suspended.

Pagnoni arranged to meet the girl at a park in Cherry Hill for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity in exchange for money, according to the charges

After arriving at the meeting location, Pagnoni was taken into custody by members of the Cherry Hill Police Department Tactical Response Team and Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Egg Harbor Township man is charged with first-degree attempted manufacturing of child sexual abuse material, second-degree charges of attempting to lure a child, attempted sexual assault of a minor and attempted prostitution of a minor, and third-degree attempted sending obscene material to a minor.

He additionally was charged with two counts of third-degree attempted endangering of a minor and two counts of the disorderly persons offense of engaging in prostitution.

Pagnoni is in the Camden County Correctional Facility, pending a detention hearing.
