Xbox has confirmed that it's working on a new completion reward for Achievements, addressing one of the most requested features.

Xbox has confirmed that it’s working on a new completion reward for Achievements. CEO Asha Sharma has indicated that an adjacent reward to PlayStation Platinums will arrive “later this year.”
The introduction of a completion reward marks the biggest shake-up to the Xbox’s Achievement system since it debuted alongside the Xbox 360 in 2005. In a recent X (formerly Twitter) exchange, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma responded to a fan asking whether Xbox would ever introduce an equivalent to PlayStation’s coveted Platinum Trophy. Sharma simply replied that the team is “working on something for later this year.”

While Microsoft hasn’t revealed exactly how the feature will work, it’s widely expected to reward players who unlock every Achievement in a game. PlayStation has long offered a Platinum Trophy for earning every trophy in a title, while Xbox has traditionally stopped at Gamerscore, with most games awarding up to 1,000 Gamerscore points before post-launch DLC adds more achievements.
That omission has been one of the most-requested features from the Xbox community for years. Even after the company’s recent overhaul of the Achievement system, the inclusion of a Platinum equivalent was highly requested.
There are still plenty of unanswered questions. It’s unclear whether the new reward will add additional Gamerscore or simply serve as a special badge displayed on player profiles. Microsoft also hasn’t confirmed whether the feature will apply retroactively to existing games or only future releases. Regardless of the implementation, it represents another step in Microsoft’s renewed focus on community feedback throughout 2026.
The company also recently announced new Game DVR features that allow players to capture party chat and voice audio alongside gameplay recordings, another highly requested addition from the community. Xbox has also rolled out several other player-friendly changes over the past year, including bringing its backward compatibility program to PC and reversing last year’s unpopular Xbox Game Pass price increase.
For longtime Xbox players, a completion reward has arguably been the last missing piece of the Achievement system. While earning 100 percent completion has always been satisfying, there has never been a dedicated reward that showcases the accomplishment in the same way PlayStation’s Platinum Trophy does. A Platinum Trophy is a fantastic way to track completed games and gives players many more ways to brag to friends.
Microsoft says more details will be shared later this year. If the feature arrives as expected, it’ll be one of the most significant updates to Xbox achievements in more than two decades.
