Dr. Alister Martin comes to the role from Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital.
While much of the city was focused on last Monday’s snowstorm, Dr. Alister Martin was marking his first day as New York City’s new health commissioner.
Martin comes to the role from Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, where he built a career in emergency medicine and public policy.
Now leading the city’s health department, he faces a broad agenda that includes addressing public health disparities, strengthening the city’s emergency preparedness and navigating an evolving health care landscape.
In his first interview since taking office, Martin sat down with Spectrum News health reporter Erin Billups to discuss his priorities and vision for the department.
