Apple works to bring seamless copy-and-paste between iPhones and Windows PCs, though the feature likely won't arrive until at least 2027.

Apple plans to bring one of the iPhone and Mac’s most useful ecosystem features — cross-device clipboard sync — to Windows PCs. Don’t expect it anytime soon, though, as the functionality likely won’t arrive until fall 2027 at the earliest.
Apple is not adding cross-device clipboard sync support for Windows PCs to iOS because it wants to, though. The feature stems from an interoperability request Microsoft submitted under the European Union’s Digital Markets Act.
Apple will work on cross-device clipboard sync between iPhone and Windows PCsOver the last couple of years, Apple opened up iOS to meet EU interoperability requirements under the DMA. Microsoft used the EU interoperability request system to ask Apple for cross-device copy and paste support between iPhone and Windows PCs.
This is reportedly how the company described the feature:
Apple’s proposed solution requires adopting its AccessorySetupKit framework to sync clipboard data across the two platforms. After pairing a Windows PC with an iPhone, you’ll need to grant permission once before the two devices can share clipboard contents. The copied text and other supported content will then automatically sync between the two platforms.
This would be a significant improvement over iOS’ current restrictions. Right now, apps can only access the clipboard content if they are in the foreground. Plus, every copy-and-paste action requires user approval.
A long wait ahead for the feature to arriveIn its reply to Microsoft, Apple said that, given the engineering complexity involved, the changes wouldn’t roll out before fall 2027. And even then, the feature will appear in a developer beta before public release.
As with many of its DMA-driven changes, Apple might introduce cross-device clipboard syncing between iPhones and Windows PCs only in the European Union, at least at first.
