For the first time since 1999, the Knicks are going to the NBA Finals, and on Tuesday, people in New York City were still taking it in.

On Monday night, the blowout that swept Cleveland ended a 27-year wait to reach the finals. By Tuesday, fans were turning that into something they could hold on to at the NBA Store in Midtown.

“I think we have a legit shot to win the whole thing this year,” Knicks fan Sam Kim said.

“Now that we’re winning, we’re going to win the whole thing. I can feel it, he can feel it,” Jill Zoeller added.

“I also bet on the Knicks to win at the beginning of the season, so I’m sitting pretty right now. I’m sitting very pretty,” Ben Zoeller said.

For younger fans, this is all brand-new. Some of the youngest stayed up late to watch the win.

“I’m excited that they’re going to the championship, and I think they’re going to win the championship,” 9-year-old Aaron Kaplan said.

“[I’m] happy because they are going to the championship,” 7-year-old Adam Kaplan said.

Ricardo Varona remembered the last time the Knicks won their last championship in the 70s. He showed up outside Madison Sqaure Garden wearing custom Knicks gear he made himself, with a basketball in one hand and Knicks flag in the other, showing off one of his signature tricks.

“They are going to the championship,” he said.

There is some time for Knicks fans to soak up this win. They face off against the winner of the Western Conference Finals next Wednesday.
