OAKLAND, Calif. - With a victory over the Dallas Wings on Monday night, the Golden State Valkyries (25-9) have clinched a postseason berth for the second-straight season.
Boasting one of the league's top defenses, Golden State leads the WNBA in defensive rating (101.4) and opponent points per game (76.7). The Valkyries have held their opponents to 70 points or less in a league-leading 10 games this season, including two games under 60 points (also the most in the league). A WNBA-high seven Valkyries players rank in the top 15 in defensive rating going into tonight's game (min. 15 GP) in Kiah Stokes (third - 96.6), Cecilia Zandalasini (fourth - 97.0), Laeticia Amihere (seventh - 98.0), Veronica Burton (eighth - 98.1), Kayla Thornton (10th - 98.1), Kaila Charles (12th - 99.0), and Gabby Williams (13th - 99.5).
Williams became the team's first-ever WNBA All-Star starter earlier this season, posting 18 points, five rebounds and six assists in the event, and Janelle Salaün represented the Valkyries in the State Farm WNBA 3-Point Contest. On July 29, Salaün broke the record for most threes by a reserve player with her 69th three-pointer and currently has 82 made triples this season (seventh most in the WNBA). Salaün also currently leads all reserve players this season with 13.0 points per game.
The Valkyries have made 368 three-pointers this season (the second most in the WNBA) and lead the league with 10.8 made three pointers per game.
The league leader in total attendance (343,216 counting) and average attendance (18,064), Golden State has sold out every regular-season game (19) this season at Chase Center and has 41 straight regular-season sellouts dating back to 2025. The Valkyries' 15 home wins in 2026 are tied for the most in the league, and their 78.9 home winning percentage currently leads the WNBA.
The Valkyries are the 14th team in North American professional sports history (MLB, MLS, NBA, NFL, WNBA) to reach the postseason in each of their first two seasons of existence (per Elias Sports Bureau).

The WNBA Playoffs begin Sunday, September 27 with the best-of-three First Round (1-1-1 format). The Semifinals will be a best-of-five (2-2-1), and the WNBA Finals will be a best-of-seven (2-2-1-1-1). Golden State currently occupies the No. 2 seed in the WNBA standings.
