The Spickard R-2 Board of Education held a public hearing Monday evening before setting the district’s new property tax rate at $4.8426 per $100 of assessed valuation. The district includes portions of northern Grundy County and southern Mercer County.
The board approved adding $1,501 in Title funds to the district budget. The addition brings Spickard R-2’s total budgeted revenue to $1.082 million, compared with projected expenditures of $1.035 million.
Board members approved the district’s bus route with no changes from the previous school year. They also approved the 2025-26 annual Secretary of the Board Report for submission to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the Missouri state local compliance plan for special education, and a list of substitute teachers.
Superintendent Eakes reported on projects completed during the summer. Work included an expansion of the playground, replacement of an office window, repairs to the front door, installation of a water spigot, and installation of a new faucet in the staff bathroom. The gym and cafeteria floors were waxed, carpets and rugs were shampooed, and a dead tree was removed from the parking lot.
