TECNO has officially launched the POVA 8 Pro 5G in India, adding a new gaming-focused model to its POVA smartphone lineup. The phone arrives with a combination of high-refresh-rate display technology, a MediaTek Dimensity chipset, a large battery, and a distinctive secondary lighting display on the rear.

The India launch follows TECNO’s earlier confirmation of the device’s design and core specifications. The company has now listed the POVA 8 Pro 5G with its complete hardware and feature set, while the smartphone is set to be sold in India through Flipkart.

The POVA 8 Pro 5G comes with a 6.78-inch HyperLux AMOLED display featuring a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel supports up to 4500 nits peak brightness, 1600 nits HBM, and a 2800Hz instant touch sampling rate. It also uses Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for protection.

One of the phone’s most distinctive features is the Alive Matrix Display on the rear. Integrated into the triangular camera area, it uses 177 independently controlled mini LEDs to create a breathing-light effect across more than 49 scenarios, including calls, messages, gaming and file transfers. The handset measures 7.39mm in thickness and weighs around 189 grams. It comes in Arc White, Graphite Black, and Tundra Green. 

At the center of the POVA 8 Pro 5G is the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G processor, built on a 4nm process. TECNO has paired it with its dedicated P1 Graphic Chip, which is designed to support frame interpolation and gaming-focused graphics processing. TECNO says the P1 chip can enable gaming at up to 144FPS in supported titles.

The company specifically lists PUBG MOBILE support for the Ultra Extreme 144FPS option, while its gaming features also include game frame interpolation, game super resolution, and video super resolution. For cooling, the phone uses a 5000-square-millimetre vapour chamber. It also includes an X-axis linear motor for 4D game vibration and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. TECNO’s global specifications list configurations beginning at 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, while higher configurations can offer up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. The company also supports up to 12GB of extended RAM. 

Battery capacity is another major part of the POVA 8 Pro 5G’s hardware. The smartphone packs a 6500mAh battery with support for 45W Super Charging. TECNO claims the battery is designed for up to six years of battery health and uses a self-healing technology that can restore 1% battery health after every 200 charging cycles under the company’s stated conditions.

The phone also supports 10W wired reverse charging and bypass charging for scenarios such as gaming. The company says the phone can charge to 30% in 14 minutes, 50% in 27 minutes, and 100% in 60 minutes under its stated testing conditions.

For photography, the POVA 8 Pro 5G features a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C primary rear camera with optical image stabilization, paired with an 8MP ultrawide camera. A 13MP front camera handles selfies and video calls.

The combination of OIS and the ultrawide camera gives the phone a more versatile setup than a basic dual-camera configuration, while the primary Sony sensor is positioned as the main photography hardware. The phone also runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16 and includes TECNO’s AI features and Ella smart assistant.
