The Bold and the Beautiful has a habit of hitting us hard over the head with the plot twists that it’s planning to turn out. So after Friday’s tension-soaked cliffhanger, we were all expecting Steffy and Carter to have sex in Monday’s episode, right?

The signs that the Forrester Creations colleagues were going to have a tear-stained hookup were all there. Steffy was schnockered from her flight back to L.A., Carter was soused on the corporate booze stash, and they were both hella depressed over the end of their marriages to Finn and Daphne, respectively.

But, did the co-workers actually have a one-night stand in the CEO’s office? Not in Monday’s episode, at least. Steffy shared how abandoned she felt by Finn and how close to the end of her rope she was, thanks to Ridge almost firing her, Hope defecting to Logan and, on top of it, the Sheila of it all. “I need my husband to protect me,” she cried.

In response, Carter approached Steffy, took her in his arms and said, “I got you.” And it looked as if they were going to kiss, but it didn’t go that far — not then and there, anyway.

But apparently after the closing credits rolled, the two of them did have sex. So in Tuesday’s episode (recapped here), they woke up tangled in a blanket on the couch in the Forrester Creations CEO office and freaked over the “terrible mistake” they agreed they made.

Thanks to our massive spoilers roundup, we know what happens next, too. Though Finn has begged and pleaded with Steffy to forgive him for not giving her a heads-up that Sheila was in Monaco, the fashionista is going to have trouble doing so. Complicating matters is the fact that she’s now keeping a whopper of a secret from her husband!

At the same time, Carter and Daphne are about to reach a new understanding in their marriage. But of course, they’ll presumably be doing so without Daphne being informed of her husband’s hookup with pal Steffy.
