Kadeena Cox stormed to gold in the T38 400m final at the World ParaAthletics Championships - but still wasn't content after missing out on a world record time.

Cox last summer became the first British Paralympian to win gold in two different sports since 1984, as she topped the podium in the 400m on the track and then in the cycling time trial.

She had claimed silver over 200m earlier in the week but last night at the London Stadium, she won her first gold medal of the World Championships.

Kadeena Cox of Great Britain claimed an impressive victory in the T38 400m final

Cox claimed Britain's 14th gold medal of the Championships as she pulled a remarkable 40m clear of her rivals to clock a time of 1.02secs. Her nearest challenger, the Japanese Yuka Takamatsu, finished 0.06s behind Cox with a time of 1.08s.

Cox, however, was nursing a hamstring niggle and was aggrieved to fall short of her own world record - a time of 1:00.71 set in Rio last summer.

The 26-year-old said: 'I've got a bit of a niggle in the hamstring. Then you add in the neurological condition and I am having some problems on my affected side. I didn't hit my world record which I would have liked to have done but I am happy with the win.'

Cox admitted to feeling disappointed not to have broken her own world record

Cox will compete in the T38 100m today, as she takes on fellow Brit and world record holder Sophie Hahn.

There was heartbreak for Brit Paul Blake who was unable to build on his gold in Rio as he missed out on the medal places altogether in the T36 400m final.

Australian James Turner took gold and just as Blake appeared to have the consolation of a bronze medal in his grasp, Keegan Pitcher of New Zealand swept ahead during an agonising final 30m for the British athlete.
