John Wick favorite and still the most underrated talent in action movies, Scott Adkins, is teaming up with a fellow underrated martial arts maestro for a new siege-based action thriller. Adkins has been flying the flag for no-nonsense action thrills for decades now, and shows no signs of slowing down as he takes on the lead villain role (something that he proved his affinity for as Killa in John Wick: Chapter 4) in the newly announced Deadlocked, which will launch sales at the Cannes Film Festival.
Pre-production on the action outing has already begun, with production expected to kickstart in late 2026. Adkins will play the leader of a mercenary group that storms the scene of a crime, a location that just so happens to be in the middle of a routine visit by the jury and judge. Of course, they hadn’t planned on one of the attendees being an actionv hero with a particular set of skills seeking redemption, played by Mortal Kombat II star Lewis Tan.
Alongside the announcement, the first official plot details for Deadlocked have also been revealed (via Deadline), with the action thriller beginning as a routine jury site visit "turns deadly when a mercenary kill team led by Hewitt (Adkins) storms the location in search of a secret ledger detailing citywide corruption. Trapped inside, a disgraced ex-cop-turned-bailiff (Tan) must protect the surviving jurors and battle the attackers outside while exposing a traitor within." Say less.
Not only does Deadlocked feature both Scott Adkins and Lewis Tan facing off, the action thriller also finds the Deadpool and Wolverine and Cobra Kai star overseeing the action design alongside fight choreographer and Roel Reiné (Wu Assassins, Black Sails), who is also on directing duty, with Collin Armstrong penning the script. Vault Entertainment, Rebel Entertainment, In Tandem Productions, and Film Mode Entertainment are all attached, with the latter presenting the action outing at Cannes.

Deadlocked is the latest collaboration between Scott Adkins and Lewis Tan, with the announcement coming less than a week after it was revealed the pair will throw down in the martial arts action flick, Brawler. Which also finds Adkins making his directorial debut. Currently shooting in the UK, Capture is launching sales on the action thriller at the Cannes market, with the roles being reversed as Adkins plays the hero against Tan’s villain in as Brawler centers on a disgraced MMA champion who is pulled into a violent underworld by the sins of his past. Armed only with his fists, he must fight hitmen, criminal gangs, and his own inner demons, to protect those he loves.
