He's been dubbed the 'villain' in this season of Married At First Sight.

And Anthony Manton's co-workers appear to have no sympathy for the racing commentator, who last week bemoaned his portrayal on the reality show.

'He's blowing up about it (how he's coming across), but what did he expect?' a source at the 33-year-old's work place, Sky Racing, told The Daily Telegraph.

The insider went on to suggest that Anthony invited the backlash over his behaviour by signing up for the series.

'Reality shows are for people who don’t have a profile and desperately want one, not for people who have something going on that they could lose,' they claimed.

It comes after the Sydney-based contestant raised eyebrows with crude comments he made about wife Nadia Stamp, 36.

'We've had problems with intimacy,' he told producers in a preview clip for Sunday's show.

'For lack of a better word, you've been frigid,' he later told Nadia. 

His comment was met with a slew of backlash, with fans taking to Twitter to condemn his behaviour.

'Anthony claiming Nadia's frigid - no mate, with the way you've acted nobody would want to jump you,' one viewer Tweeted.

Another outraged fan Tweeted: 'Nadia "frigid"? Rest assured we've all been called that by Mr Unf******** Teeny Weeny.'

Other fans chose to critique Anthony's personality in more general terms, with one Tweeting: 'I don't know what scares me more, Anthony's archaic attitude, or Nadia's willingness to put up with it.'

'Can't wait to see Nadia ditch Anthony', quipped another fan. 

Meanwhile, Anthony has spoken out about the show's portrayal of his character, claiming he has been heavily 'edited'.

'I know I haven't been portrayed in the best possible light. There's so much stuff that is edited out,' he told The Daily Telegraph.

'In my case, there needs to be a villain in these shows, and I happen to be it on Married At First Sight,' he continued.
