People who aren’t in the know think their property taxes are for ongoing expenses like snow plowing, street repair etc. 80% of their tax dollars don’t go to services, they go for services already rendered i.e. pensions.

No changing now, higher and higher taxes (going to fund pensions) and lower services. The public sector greed has put Chicago and Illinois on a path downward that cannot be stopped now. It has gone past the point of no return. The only way out for the taxpayer and his family is to move out of state and let the chips fall where they may.
