Unanswered Questions in Aldosteronism and Cardiovascular Risk

To the Editor I read with great interest the study by Lassen and colleagues demonstrating that a higher aldosterone to renin ratio (ARR) is associated with incident atrial fibrillation (AF) and ischemic stroke in older adults. While this elegant work extends the concept of a renin-independent aldosteronism spectrum, several clinically critical questions remain unaddressed.
