MINSK, 24 August (BelTA) - Belarusian athlete Uladzislava Lavar won gold at the 2026 EWF Youth and U15 European Weightlifting Championships in Kosovo, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian posted the best result in the women’s U18 -61kg category. Uladzislava Lavar finished fourth in the snatch with 80kg, but successfully completed all three of her clean and jerk attempts at 95kg, 105kg, and 110kg, winning the gold medal in the discipline and taking the overall title with a total of 190kg.
In the battle for the gold, the Belarusian edged Sudenaz Sevim of Türkiye and Yashira Molina Becker of Germany by just 1kg. Earlier this year, Uladzislava Lavar won a bronze medal in the clean and jerk at the World Junior Championships in Colombia.
After five days of competition in Kosovo, the Belarusian team has nine medals (2 gold, 2 silver, 5 bronze). Other Belarusian medalists at the European U15/U18 Championships include Darya Novikava, Viktar Shchohaleu, Aliaksandra Kruk, and Milana Banchuk. In total, the 2026 EWF European Youth & U15 Weightlifting Championships have brought together more than 350 young athletes from 38 countries.
