The Republic of Moldova is marking its 35th Independence Day on August 27, with the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova highlighting the importance of freedom, national unity and the responsibility to preserve the achievements of the past three and a half decades for future generations.

In a message published on X, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova described the anniversary as an opportunity to celebrate the country, its people, values, traditions and places that form a shared national identity.

The ministry recalled the decision, 35 years ago, to choose freedom and establish an independent state, emphasizing the courage of those who contributed to Moldova’s independence.

According to the message, the country’s independence also brings a responsibility to protect and preserve freedom for future generations. The ministry stressed that Moldova’s development has been shaped by citizens who believed in the country and contributed in different ways to building the state.

The 35 years since independence have also brought important lessons and challenges, which the ministry said have strengthened Moldovan society.

The message places particular emphasis on the future, describing Moldova’s continued development as a responsibility shared by its citizens. The ministry underlined that the country’s future remains in the hands of its people, both those living in Moldova and those who have made their homes abroad.
