BUCHAREST — Romania has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day, stressing its solidarity with the Ukrainian people and support for a just and lasting peace.


In a message published on X, Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the country continues to stand firmly alongside Ukraine as it faces Russia’s ongoing war of aggression.
The Romanian Foreign Ministry commended the courage and resilience of the Ukrainian people in defending their country and reiterated that Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders must be respected.
Romania also underlined its continued support for diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the war and achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace based on international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.
The statement further reaffirmed Bucharest’s support for Ukraine’s European aspirations, including progress towards membership of the European Union.
Romania has consistently backed Ukraine’s European path and its efforts to advance the EU accession process, presenting European integration as an important element of Ukraine’s future.
The Foreign Ministry’s message comes as Ukraine marks its Independence Day amid the continuing war with Russia, with international support remaining a key element of Kyiv’s diplomatic efforts.

Romania will continue to support all efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace, in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.
We also reiterate our firm support for Ukraine’s European path and for advancing its EU accession process.”
