A mobilisation exercise dubbed “MOBEX Bucharest-Ilfov 26” will take place between October 5 and 12, 2026, as part of efforts to assess Romania’s defence preparedness and the readiness of military reserve forces, the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) announced.

During the exercise, some reservists residing in Bucharest and Ilfov County will be called to report to designated military units. They will take part in training activities for one day and are required to report only on the date specified in their call-up orders.

The call-up orders will be delivered by representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Under Law No. 446/2006, reservists are required to participate in training sessions and exercises designed to assess the reserve force.

Employers are required to ensure that reservists who are employees can attend the exercise by granting them one additional paid day of leave, based on a certificate issued by the relevant military centre.

MOBEX exercises are organised annually and generally involve up to ten counties. They are designed to assess how human and material resources are mobilised to support structures with responsibilities in national defence and security.

The previous mobilisation exercise in Bucharest and Ilfov took place in 2025. In an effort to minimise the socio-economic impact, only some of the military units deployed in the capital and Ilfov County were included.

This year’s exercise will involve military units that were not assessed during the MOBEX B-IF-25 exercise.

The Ministry of National Defence stressed that MOBEX exercises are routine activities planned in advance and urged the public not to interpret the exercise as an exceptional development.

The ministry also warned that false information and attempts to mislead the public could circulate online in connection with the exercise.
