The the third week in a row, the top six in the Varsity Maine field hockey poll remains unchanged — the same teams in the same order. That makes the rest of the rankings the most interesting.

Camden Hills and Freeport are both off to unbeaten starts. The two squads also have risen in the polls together: they were tied for 10th last week, and now they’re tied for seventh. Thornton Academy rejoins the rankings after a week away at No. 10. The Golden Trojans were ranked seventh in the fall’s first poll.

The team to keep an eye on is No. 9 Sanford/Kennebunk, whose only losses were to top-ranked Cheverus and No. 3 Biddeford. The Spartans acquitted themselves well in both, taking the Tigers to double overtime in the season opener, and falling to the Stags on a goal in the final second.

The Varsity Maine field hockey poll is based on games played before Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
