ALBANY, N.Y. (VINnews) — Gov. Kathy Hochul leads Republican Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman 50%-41% among likely New York voters, according to a Siena College poll released Wednesday.

The poll shows little change from August, when Hochul led Blakeman 49%-39%.

Hochul has a 48%-46% favorability rating and a 48%-47% job approval rating. Blakeman is viewed favorably by 35% of voters and unfavorably by 34%, with nearly one-third saying they have no opinion.

Siena pollster Steven Greenberg said Hochul leads Blakeman by nine points with six weeks remaining before Election Day. At the same point in 2022, Hochul led Republican Lee Zeldin 54%-37%, a 17-point margin, before winning the election by six points.

Blakeman leads Hochul among Republicans, 88%-8%, while Hochul leads among Democrats, 81%-11%. Blakeman also holds a 44%-39% advantage among independent voters.

Hochul leads 61%-27% in New York City. The race is much closer in the downstate suburbs, where Hochul leads 48%-46%, and upstate, where Blakeman leads 47%-44%.

Two-thirds of likely voters, 66%, say they think Hochul will win the election, including 37% of Republicans.

Voters also say President Donald Trump’s endorsement of Blakeman is more likely to hurt than help his campaign, with 51% calling the endorsement negative and 30% positive. By comparison, 50% say New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s endorsement of Hochul is positive, while 30% call it negative.

Hochul also holds leads over Blakeman on several issues. Voters give her an advantage on making prices more affordable, keeping New Yorkers safe and addressing undocumented immigrants living in the state.

The Siena poll was conducted Sept. 11-17 among 1,144 likely voters. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.
