People are absolutely losing it after a truly wild clip from Andrew Scott’s appearance in an upcoming British TV show, It Gets Worse, was shared online.
If the show isn’t already on your radar, It Gets Worse is the brainchild of 28-year-old comedian Leo Reich, who created and wrote the series, and also stars as its lead character, Ethan.
The comedy follows Ethan and his two best friends from university as they attempt to navigate life in London in their mid-20s — only for things to get even more chaotic when their landlord threatens them with eviction.
In addition to Andrew, other notable names that have popped up in the cast include Lena Dunham and Chicken Shop Date star Amelia Dimoldenberg.
While the show is being made for Channel 4 in the UK, it has acclaimed indie studio A24 behind it — and on Tuesday, they posted a first-look clip to social media, causing an immediate stir for the massive plot twist in the 1-minute-and-48-second clip.
Seriously, trust me when I say that you are genuinely not prepared.
The clip starts with Leo, as Ethan, offloading in a therapist’s office, saying: “Sorry, I’m not trying to be like: ‘My life’s so hard, like, woe is me,’ you know? I didn't live through AIDs or whatever.”
Andrew is then revealed to be the therapist, asking: “How old do you think I am?” Ethan continues: “But sometimes, it’s like, life is hard, you know? Life is hard. And maybe… Maybe woe is me.... It just feels like everything’s already over.”
At this point, it’s worth mentioning that Andrew’s character name has not been revealed, so we’ll just carry on referring to him as “Andrew,” but do keep in mind that this is very much him playing a character, not himself. Got it?
“Listen, maybe the feeling that you’re experiencing isn’t a feeling that everything is over… Maybe it’s a feeling that everything’s not over, maybe that’s it. I mean, you’re…you’re what, 24?” Andrew says, and when Ethan confirms that he is, he replies: “Jesus, that’s young.”
Trailing off, he then abruptly leans in and passionately kisses Ethan, eventually putting his hand around Ethan’s throat. The big plot twist is then revealed that Andrew isn’t actually Ethan’s therapist; he is an app hook-up — and it gets so much more X-rated. Andrew says: “Sorry, I didn’t… I’ve actually got a real client in about 15 minutes, so do you want to do this?”
“Yeah, of course, yeah, yeah, yeah, sorry,” flustered Ethan stutters. “It’s just when your bio said ‘therapist,’ with the waiting times and stuff, I was like: ‘May as well-'” At this point, Andrew interrupts, shushing Ethan and seductively asking: “You know what you are?” When Ethan asks what he is, Andrew says: “You’re just a hole for daddy. Say that.”
“I’m just a hole for daddy,” Ethan repeats, and Andrew says: “Good boy,” before slapping him around the face. Returning to therapist mode, Andrew says: “And, you know what? You’re fine. OK? Just so you know, you’re fine, mentally. You’re valid. You’re enough… Now, open your mouth, you little slut. Open wide.”
When Ethan obliges, Andrew spits directly into his mouth. Yep.
Suffice to say, many people were not prepared for this very explicit turn of events, and the comments on the clip were reflective of this. One of the most popular comments joked: “I thought this was gonna be something profound then it turned into something profound.” Another added: “I can't believe I almost scrolled.”
Somebody else echoed: “😳 Sometimes it’s worth it to watch the whole thing. This is sometimes.” One more wrote: “that’s pretty much the last thing i was expecting.” Another commented: “there are two different versions of me who I was before and who I am after hearing Andrew Scott say those six words.” Somebody else observed: “An unexpected turn, but not an unappreciated one.”

As mentioned, It Gets Worse will air on Channel 4 in the UK and on Crave in Canada. Unfortunately, there’s not currently any insight into when or if it’ll become available in the US… But I have a feeling that it’ll definitely get picked up!
