I’m working through the architecture of a small browser-based word puzzle and am trying to decide where PHP should actually be responsible for the game logic. The basic client-side interaction is straightforward, but once you add a daily puzzle, a controlled word list, duplicate prevention, score/history storage, and some protection against users simply submitting arbitrary results, the backend design becomes more interesting.
For example, I could generate the puzzle entirely in JavaScript and have PHP only handle scores, or have PHP generate/validate the puzzle and expose the required data through a small JSON endpoint. A waffle game is the sort of lightweight experience I have in mind, where the game itself should remain fast but the server-side pieces still need to be reliable. For those who have built similar PHP + JavaScript games, how would you structure the boundary between PHP and the browser, particularly for puzzle generation, validation, and daily-player state?
