Public voting for the “Tourist House of the Year 2026” has begun, and voters can cast their ballots for ten accommodations through October 12. 

The “Tourist Lodge of the Year” title is being awarded for the seventh time this year. Tourist lodges, self-catering cottages, and other nature-oriented accommodations from the Bakony Mountains to the Zemplén Mountains have made it to the finals. In addition to the condition and amenities of the accommodations, the selection process also took into account the surrounding environment, nearby attractions, and hiking opportunities.

Among the 2026 finalists are the Hamuház (Bakony), the Muck Tourist Lodge (Sopron Mountains), the Balatoncsicsó Self-Catering Lodge (Balaton Uplands), the Vízvári Guesthouse (Drava Valley), the Tiszolczy House (Pilis), the Pusztabánya Kulcsosház (Mecsek), the Stimecz House (Bükk), the Pénzásási Forest Tourist House (Börzsöny), the Bihari Birdwatching Lodge (Körös Region), and the Gunyakúti Kulcsosház (Zemplén).

The press release noted that

as part of the Ödön Téry National Tourist Lodge Development Program, 44 accommodations received approximately 1.55 billion forints (4.2 million euros) in funding in 2025, including tourist and self-catering lodges, and forest schools.

Over the past six years, the Annafürdő Guesthouse, the Szelcepuszta Tourist House, the Fehérkőlápa Tourist House, the Rostalló Eco-Conscious Education Center, the Szentlélek Tourist Park, and—in 2025—the Somoskő Hiking Center have won the “Tourist House of the Year” title.

Voting is available on the website; one vote may be cast every 24 hours from a single IP address.
