Today at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the world’s largest gathering of people who love books, we announced that audiobooks on Spotify are going global. By the end of 2026, listeners in more than 180 markets will be able to find their next great book on Spotify, right alongside the music and podcasts they already love.

From now through the end of 2026, we’re expanding audiobook access from 22 markets to over 180. That means more than 750 million people around the world will soon be able to stream or purchase books on Spotify. With this expansion, listeners in new markets will be able to access more than 350,000 titles, including new catalogs in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, and more, spanning over 120 languages.

And because we believe authors should find the largest possible audience, all of our partnerships are non-exclusive, helping unlock new ways for writers to reach readers around the world.

“Books change how we see the world, and the people in it,” said Owen Smith, VP of Audiobooks, Spotify. “For a lot of people, audiobooks are how they find their way back to reading, on the commute, on a walk, or at the end of a long day. Bringing audiobooks to more than 180 markets means millions more people can discover that, and authors and publishers can reach readers they’ve never been able to reach before.”

Multiple ways in, one great experience

Users in our new markets will have a number of ways to access audiobooks on Spotify.

Audiobooks in Premium:

    • Eligible Premium subscribers get 12 hours of audiobook listening every month, included in their plan.
    • This option is coming to Italy, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Poland, Chile, Norway, Peru, and more.

Audiobooks+:

    • Want more listening time? Any listener can add Audiobooks+ to their plan for extra hours each month.
    • Audiobooks+ is the primary way to access Audiobooks in markets across Africa, Asia, and Argentina.

Direct sales:

    • Want one specific title? Buy it and keep it.

Availability and pricing vary by market.

Alongside our expansion, we’re also introducing two exciting new features to give listeners even more ways to enjoy audiobooks on Spotify.

Keep the story going with Page Match

Read a few chapters in bed, then pick up the story for your morning, right where you left off. Same book, different format. That’s Page Match. Since February, more than one million readers have used it to move between print, e-book, and audio. Now it’s getting the update readers asked for most: page numbers. Simply scan the book’s ISBN barcode and use page numbers to find your place.

Page Match works in over 30 languages, helping even more readers seamlessly move between formats as audiobook access expands around the world.

Audiobooks+ comes to Student plans

In November, users on a Student plan can use Audiobooks+ to add additional listening hours in Ireland, Belgium, Austria, and Finland.

Audiobooks+ lets Spotify Premium users purchase extra audiobook listening time on top of their existing base plan. It also allows members on Premium Family and Duo plans to get 15 hours of audiobook listening a month through a recurring add-on.

Since launching just over a year ago, we have more than one million Audiobooks+ subscribers, exceeding $100 million in annual recurring revenue. We plan to extend availability to Student plans in additional markets in the coming year.

A world of stories awaits

Three years ago this fall, we brought audiobooks into Premium to build a better home for book lovers, authors, and publishers. Readers showed up. Monthly audiobook listeners grew nearly 40% over the past year, and listening hours climbed more than 30%. Now we get to share that with the rest of the world.
