Injury in dunes at Aberffraw sparks co-ordinated emergency response

Coastguard rescue teams were called out to assist a walker who suffered a lower leg injury during a family walk.

The incident happened in the dunes near Aberffraw beach on Anglesey, prompting a coordinated emergency response.

Rhosneigr Coastguard Rescue Team issued a statement yesterday (Monday) detailing the operation, which said: "Rhosneigr Coastguard Rescue Team tasked earlier this evening by Holyhead MRCC along with our colleagues Holyhead Coastguard Rescue Team to a person who had sustained a lower leg injury whilst out on a family walk through the dunes near to Aberffraw beach.

"The Injured person was quickly located and casualty care adminstered by team members until arrival of the Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust where they then received some fast acting pain relief medication prior to both teams then carefully and safely stretcher carrying them to the awaiting ambulance for their journey to the local hospital." "Both teams then able to stand down from this tasking and return to station to make ready for any future taskings.

"We wish our casualty all the very best and a speedy recovery. In a coastal emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
