On Monday, July 6, Prince Harry touched down in his home country of England and began his much-talked-about UK trip. But as rumors swirl about whether he is set to reunite with his family members, or if he was bringing his wife Meghan Markle and their kids, another important part of Harry’s life was also unfolding.

Earlier today, the former senior royal lost the landmark privacy lawsuit against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday. The case alleged unlawful information gathering from the publisher, and had other claimants, including Elton John and his husband, David Furnish, and actresses Elizabeth Hurley and Sadie Frost.

Per a written 400-page judgment by the High Court published following an 11-week trial earlier this year, the “claimants failed to prove their pleaded allegations… the claims are therefore dismissed,” per The Guardian.

“The Court rejected the attempt to prove the claims by broad inference where there remained a legitimate and realistic possible lawful source pathway, or where the article-specific evidence did not prove that the relevant information must have been obtained unlawfully,” the judgment summarized, per the BBC.

A spokesperson for ANL celebrated the victory in a statement. “This is a magnificent vindication of the Daily Mail’s journalism,” the statement read.

Following the decision, sources are revealing to GB News that the recent debacle between Harry and his stay in Buckingham Palace could be all related.

Per the outlet, Palace aides “grew alarmed” with the possibility of Harry staying at the royal household this week because of the upcoming High Court decision. “Courtiers were determined to create distance between the royal residence, the legal decision and any subsequent reaction from the Duke of Sussex,” the source said.

By creating the distance, the British royal family, and, in turn, King Charles III, were distancing themselves from whatever outcome.

“Senior palace figures are anxious to safeguard the monarch’s constitutional standing, as the King cannot appear closely connected to rulings issued by his courts,” the insider claimed.

Prior to the source from GB News, the BBC reported that the offer for Harry to stay in Buckingham Palace was withdrawn due to time constraints.

“It is therefore unclear why, having formally accepted the accommodation offer, it has now been withdrawn at the last moment,” a spokesman for the Duke of Sussex told the outlet, adding that the situation was all-around “disappointing.”

Per Buckingham Palace, Harry failed to confirm his stay and initially declined the invitation. He then changed his mind, “but by then it was too late to make arrangements and to provide staffing.”

Now that the ruling has come out and more sources are shining a light on the possible connection, it seems there was much more in play in the decision to not let Harry stay.
